Anchors away, as Year 5 and 6 pupils set sail today for two performances of their swashbuckling pirate adventure, set on the high seas! They certainly took the enthralled audience along for the ride! Well done to everyone who took part.
A big thank you to both Miss Roath and Mr Briggs for all of their hard work directing the show.
Great news! We have been awarded the BRONZE accreditation for myHappymind – well done to all the children and staff for working hard to put together the evidence to achieve the award, and for integrating the myHappymind ethos, tools and techniques throughout each and every day in our school.
Sports Awards Evening 2024
On Thursday evening Miss Walker hosted our first ever Sports Award. Parents, children and teachers came together to celebrate the outstanding sporting achievements of all the sportsmen and women at Barrow URC Primary School.
On Thursday, Sycamore Class went on a visit to Brockholes in Windermere, where they learnt all about the Lake District National Park and why it is important to look after it.
On Wednesday, Rowan Class went to Stonyhurst College. Whilst there they took part in an Egyptian workshop with Esther, saw an Egyptian Mummy and even went to the refectory for a spot of lunch!
Larch Class had a great trip to Blackpool Zoo yesterday to enhance their Science learning this term. They saw many different animals from habitats all around the world. Despite the wet and windy July weather, a great time was had by all.
Last weekend, our Barrow Bees moved from their temporary NUC boxes into two wooden hive boxes. Mrs McArdle and family joined to help out and learn more about our new buzzy friends. In September, we'll offer sessions for children interested in learning up close in beekeeper suits. Consent slips etc will be sent out in September. Professional beekeepers from 'Let Nature Bee' have limited spaces available next week and during the summer holidays if you would like to book a session to learn more. More information and booking details are available through the link https://www.barrow.lancs.sch.uk/page/?title=Barrow%20Bees...
We are thrilled to announce the introduction of bees to our school community, marking a significant step in our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. This initiative offers numerous benefits to both our local ecosystem and our children’s education.
Bees play a crucial role in pollinating plants, which is vital for the health of our environment. By fostering a thriving bee population, we contribute to biodiversity, enhance our school gardens, and support local agriculture. Emphasising the importance of environmental action and responsibility within our educational ethos.
Our children will have the unique opportunity to engage in hands-on beekeeping experiences, guided by experts from 'Let Nature Bee.' This program not only educates children about the vital role of bees but also instills a sense of respect and care for all living creatures. Through these experiences, children will develop a deeper understanding of nature's interconnectedness and their role in preserving it.
In the future, we look forward to the sweet reward of tasting honey produced by our very own bees. This will be a delicious reminder of our collective efforts to nurture and protect the environment. Together, we are making a positive impact on the world, one bee at a time.
During the Sunday Service at Clitheroe URC we worked with the Elders to count mini beasts in the Church garden.
