Autumn term
This term, our topic is Marvellous Me, where we will be learning all about ourselves, our families, and the wonderful things that make us unique. At the start of the year, we will spend plenty of time getting to know the children, helping them to settle in, and introducing the new routines of school life so that everyone feels happy and confident. To begin our adventures, we’ll be diving into two much-loved stories: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Shark in the Park on a Windy Day. These books will help us explore the world around us, develop our curiosity, and inspire lots of fun activities in class. We can’t wait to get started and share this exciting journey of learning and discovery with you!
For the first couple of weeks, Reception children will have a settling in period and I will complete their Baseline assessments. In the first full week of school, we will begin Week 1 of phonics (see overview of Phase 2 below).
