Our Virtual Holiday
22nd February 2021
To prepare us for our English unit of writing travel guides (non chronological reports), we have taken a virtual trip abroad - we chose to go to Egypt. We set off to the ‘airport’ with our passports and suitcases, got our boarding passes and boarded the aeroplane. After taking off and landing, we arrived in sunny Egypt. We took a river cruise down the Nile, learnt all about camels, took a tour of the pyramids and learnt all about Ancient Egypt by listening to a podcast. Before setting off home, we wrote a post card all about our trip! We loved it! Have a look at some photos in our gallery.
Chinese New Year Celebrations in Willow Class 2021
Friday 12th February
Today we celebrated Chinese New Year! We learned how the Chinese Zodiac came about and listened to Chinese music while creating a healthy Chinese vegetarian stir fry with noodles, in class, as part of our DT learning this half term.
When our meal was made, we all sat down together to drink Chinese green tea, eat our Chinese meal with chopsticks and open our Fortune cookies. We all thought our meal was absolutely delicious!
(We also and learned about why handwashing is so important in food preparationmade a healthy banana and mango smoothie today which we had to give us energy for food prep and cooking!)
Check out our photos in the Class Gallery.

Interviewing Brian Yates (Construction Group manager for John Turner)
Friday 20th November
Today, Year 4 conducted an interview with Brian to get information about the Barrow URC building project for our writing in English. Brian answered our questions and was VERY impressed with the quality of these! He also showed us plans for the buidling together with artefacts that have been found during the excavation of the ground and the demolition process of the original school and church. It was an absolutely fabulous morning. Out thanks go to Brian for giving over some of his time.
Well done Brian and Year 4!

A little bit late this year, but today we celebrated Black History Month while also celebrating Remembrance. We learnt about the remarkable life of WW1 soldier and professional footballer, Walter Tull, who sadly died whilst in active service.
Gone but never forgotten.
National Poetry Day
Thursday 1st October
For this year's special day to celebrate poetry, Willow class wrote poems on the theme 'Peculiar Pets'. They were all very peculiar and funny indeed!
These have now been sent to the Young Writers' Poetry competition.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if some of our peculiar pets poems were published!
