Interviewing Brian Yates (Construction Group manager for John Turner)

Friday 20th November

Today, Year 4 conducted an interview with Brian to get information about the Barrow URC building project for our writing in English. Brian answered our questions and was VERY impressed with the quality of these! He also showed us plans for the buidling together with artefacts that have been found during the excavation of the ground and the demolition process of the original school and church. It was an absolutely fabulous morning. Out thanks go to Brian for giving over some of his time.

Well done Brian and Year 4!

Anti-Bullying Week
Monday 16th November to Friday 20th November

We kicked off anti bullying week this week with Odd Socks Day. We have designed our own odd sock by thinking about what makes us different and unique. We have also come to together to unite against bullying by performing Andy and The Odd Socks' new song - The Kids are United.

Art Day

Friday 13th November

This week, we finished off adding detail to our artwork which we created last week for Art Day.

This year, our artwork has been inspired by British-Nigerian artist, Yinka Shonibare.

Please take a look in our Class Gallery. The results are SUPERB!

Black History Month and Remembrance

Thursday 5th November

A little bit late this year, but today we celebrated Black History Month while also celebrating Remembrance. We learnt about the remarkable life of WW1 soldier and professional footballer, Walter Tull, who sadly died whilst in active service.

Gone but never forgotten.

National Poetry Day

Thursday 1st October

For this year's special day to celebrate poetry, Willow class wrote poems on the theme 'Peculiar Pets'.  They were all very peculiar and funny indeed!

These have now been sent to the Young Writers' Poetry competition.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if some of our peculiar pets poems were published!

International Day of Languages

Friday 25th September

This year, our focus language was French and so throughout the day we used conversational French and learnt about French culture.

Mental Health, Well-being and Fitness Day

Wednesday 23rd September

Healthy minds and healthy bodies go together and so today we took part in three different exercises - stretching, dance to funky music and practised some mindfulness through yoga. We then chatted about how our bodies and feelings altered during each activity.
