URC 50th Celebration
Friday 1st April
To celebrate the 50th birthday of the URC Church, we planted fifty trees in our school grounds🌲. Parented enjoyed a wonderful assembly, led by Mrs McArdle and every receive their own celebratory book.

Visiting the Houses of Parliament
Thursday 30th March
What a super experience for the children in Beech Class. We left Barrow bright and early and caught the train from Preston to London. We then popped onto the underground 🚊 and made our way to the Houses of Parliament, where we learned about how laws are formed, we had a tour of Parliament and even met our local MP, Nigel Evans.

School Charity Update - World Wildlife Fund
We are extremely excited to welcome SIX new animals to our Barrow School family. The School Council organised a cake sale for the World Wildlife Fund and together we raised enough funds to adopt lots of animals. Each class have adopted one animal. We will keep you updated.

Our School Dog, Ludo, has settled in beautifully and today enjoyed his first walk. In the coming weeks, he will be trained so that small groups of children can join Mrs McArdle on wellbeing walks.

The School Council have been extremely busy this week helping us choose a charity to support.
Each class chose their class charity:
Oak Class - East Lancs Hospice
Larch Class - World Wildlife Fund
Sycamore Class - RSCPA
Rowan Class - Team SEAS
Willow Class - Cancer Research UK
Beech Class - North West Air Ambulance
All the charities are truly worth while causes and we would love to support them all,
however we had to choose one school charity.
The School Council then made voting cards and ballot boxes.
Every child in the school selected one of the six charities.

Tuesday 4th January 2022
Today we welcomed the newest member to our Barrow Family - Ludo our School Dog
Ludo is a miniature cockapoo who will be trained over the coming months to be our school dog. Head over to the parent page for more information all about our four legged friend. He is already settling in well and enjoying snoozing under Mrs Smith's desk. The children are all excited about our new addition and can't wait to get to know him.

Thursday 12th November
A massive congratulations to all the children who took part in the Kid’s Cup Final! We are so proud to say that...
"We are the champions!"
We are looking forward to our school football team representing the Ribble Valley in the county Kids Cup in March.

Visit from Local Historian - David Tilsley
Wednesday 20th October
Local historian, David Tilsley from The Lancashire Archives Services came to visit the children of Barrow URC Primary School on Wednesday. He told the children all about the history of our school, we looked at entries from the school log book, heard from ex pupil Fred McNabb and found out Cyril Washbrook the England cricket player who went to Barrow School.

Beech Class Poetry Recital
Thursday 7th October
To celebrate National Poetry Day, the children in Beech Class held their own poetry recital. Everyone chose a poem, practised it and the performed it in front of the class. Congratulations to Sophie, Massimo and Samuel for their outstanding performances.

Ribble Valley Cross Country Race
Wednesday 13th October
Six girls and six boys took part in the annual cross country races at St Michael and St John’s Primary School and all the runners were amazing!
Some of our runners even placed in the top 10 for their races….

Everyone gave it their all! We can’t wait for the next one.

Barrow URC Primary School Library…..We are almost there!

The new library furniture has arrived and we have been busy assembling furniture and organising all our new books.

Time capsule from 1876 unearthed at Clitheroe Primary School
Thursday 5th May
The BBC visited school today to find out about the history of our school...
A 145-year-old time capsule, containing ten coins and a rolled-up newspaper, has been discovered in the foundations of our primary school.
The glass jar was found "by complete accident" while workers renovated the chapel at Barrow URC Primary School in Clitheroe, Lancashire, built in 1876.
The artefact had been placed inside one of the chapel's foundation stones.
