The 2.6 Challenge
Help Save UK's Charities, Raise some Money and Stay Fit at the same time!
All you need to do is dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills.
This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, to gardening for 26 minutes. There are no rules – apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time.
Practice your times tables every day. Learn them forwards, backwards, randomly and then try to learn all the associated division facts too. By the end of Year 3, you should know your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables. If you know all of these already then try to learn the rest!
Year 3 and 4 share the same statutory spelling list. Try to learn as many of these as possible. Remember to look at suggestions of how to learn these words in different ways.
There are further spelling activities on PURPLE MASH too!

Gerda sets out on a long journey to find Kay. She offers her new red shoes to a river and in return it carries her downstream. She meets a wild girl who gives her a reindeer that takes her to the Snow Queen’s palace. Inside the palace Gerda finds Kay. Her tears wash away the specks and Kay becomes himself again. They escape home. Children will explore the theme of friendship, as well as evaluate the story in terms of what they liked, and the things that they would change.
