  • Childrens mental Health Week

    On Monday, we started off our week with some mindful breathing in assembly and 'Mountain Pose' yoga in the hall. We introduced our 'Thank Tank' which encourages children to express what they are grateful for. On Wednesday morning we had a selection of wellbeing stations (yoga, playdough, chatterboxes, fitness, colouring) for the children to choose from and the whole school enjoyed taking part in the various activities. It was lovely to see the different year groups spending time together, and the older children looking after the little ones! Well done Barrow!

  • Elm class visit Clitheroe mosque

    Today, Elm have visited Clitheroe Mosque. We met Imam Ubai and Uncle Farooq who showed us how people prayer and how people prepare for prayer through washing. It was really great to see what we have learnt first hand

  • Larch Class visit Ribble Valley Foodbank

    This morning Larch class went to visit Ruth at Ribble Valley Foodbank. We were able to give her 216 items that will be used to support families in our local community. The foodbank were so grateful for all of our donations and told us it was 'kindness in action'. Thank you to everyone for all your support.

  • Sycamore Class visit to the Hindu Temple

    Sycamore class enjoyed their visit to The Gujarat Hindu Temple, in Preston, on Tuesday morning.

    Our guide was very friendly and welcoming, sharing his knowledge of Hinduism and recounting some Hindu stories. It was a lovely morning!

  • Year 3 Learning about Hinduism

    Published 24/01/24

    Year 3 enjoyed learning more about Hinduism today. They dressed up in traditional Hindu clothing, performed a Puja ceremony in class, learnt about the story of Rama and Sita, made Diwali lanterns, created Rangoli  designs and learnt a Hindu dance while listening to Ravi Shankar playing the Sitar. An action packed RE morning!

  • Viking workshop in Y6

    Year 6 had an amazing morning History workshop with 'Delve into History' learning all about the Vikings! They got to handle a range of replica Viking artefacts, try on some Viking costumes and even got to have a go at axe and stone flinging to see how well they completed Viking games. Our game winners then got to drink from the Viking horn as a reward!

  • Our Spring Poetry Festival

    On Friday, every child in the school took part in the Spring Poetry Festival.  Each class performed their poem and they were all amazing!   Poems included: Snowflake on My Nose, The Gruffalo, When Daddy Fell into the Pond, Boogy Woogy Buggy, Roger the Dog, Little Red Riding Hood and The Dinner Lady Dance.  We can't wait for the Summer Poetry Festival.

  • Year 4 Mayan Parade

    On Wednesday, the children in Year 4 all designed and made their own Mayan headdresses.  Their task was to create the most elaborate headdress, so they could be crowned the High Priest.    Following a parade through the school, Mrs McArdle judged the head dresses, and we now have a new High Priest of Rowan Class.

  • Year 6 Fire Safety Talk

    Fire Safety Talk: Year 6 were lucky to have a workshop with Lancashire Fire Service. We talked about all the fire safety things we had learnt in Year 2 at our last workshop and then talked about road safety, ready for starting secondary school in September.
