  • Year 1 visit Clitheroe Mosque

    Year 1 had a fantastic visit to Clitheroe Mosque! The children learnt lots about how Muslims prepare for prayer by washing and cleaning in a special room, discovered which direction Muslims face when praying towards Mecca and found out about the five daily prayers. They were also excited to share their knowledge of the Mihrab, something they had already been learning about in class. A big thank you to everyone at Clitheroe Mosque for making us feel so welcome.

  • Investing in Our Staff

    At Barrow URC Primary School, we believe it is really important to continually upskill our staff so we can provide the very best learning experiences for our children.

    Recently, we have been accessing training through The Local School Nature Grants Programme, helping us to develop our knowledge and confidence in gardening with children 🌼🌿. It has been a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and ideas for outdoor learning.

    We can’t wait to bring what we’ve learned back into school and share these exciting experiences with our children as we continue to grow our love of nature together! 🌻🌍✨

  • Drama workshops

    A huge thank you to Prima Dance and Theatre School for coming into school to help us celebrate World Book Day! 📚✨

    They led fantastic drama workshops with all of our children and the feedback from staff and pupils has been wonderful. The children had such a great time bringing stories to life through drama and performance. 🎭

    A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along and supported our Spring Café! 💛

    The atmosphere was wonderful, and we are absolutely delighted to share that we made a staggering £552! 🎉👏

    This fantastic amount will go towards building a brand new outdoor classroom for the children at Barrow 🌳🏫 — such an exciting project that will benefit all of our pupils!

    A massive thank you to all the amazing Year 4 children who worked so incredibly hard throughout the event 💪✨ Whether they were:

    ☕ Making drinks

    🍰 Selling cakes

    🎟 Collecting tickets (and children!)

    🧽 Or being part of the brilliant cleaning team

  • Year 3 visit to the Hindu Temple

    Year 3 had a great time at the Hindu Temple in Preston; learning more about the different Gods, taking part in a meditation session and singing with drums. The children showed ‘The Barrow Way’ brilliantly with some excellent listening and thoughtful questions.

  • Valentine's Lunch

    ❤️ What a lovely day! Today our House Captains, Head Boy and Head Girl went over to Middleshaw Hills Residential Home to enjoy a special Valentine’s lunch with the residents 💌🍽️

    The children shared the beautiful cards they had made and spent time chatting and getting to know everyone 🥰💐

    It was such a special moment seeing different generations come together and spread a little kindness and happiness. We are so proud of them all 🌟😊

  • Oak class enjoyed a pamper afternoon

    As part of Children's Mental Health Week, Oak class enjoyed a lovely Wellbeing pamper afternoon. They visited the nail and hair salon, had tattoos and hot chocolates, relaxed to mindful music with cucumbers on their eyes (then ate them!!!) and enjoyed a relaxing foot spa. Mrs Tate and Miss Parkinson certainly needed a rest too afterwards!

  • Year 4 visit Blackburn Museum

    🚌✨ What an amazing day! Yesterday the children from Year 4 visited Blackburn Museum and took part in a fantastic Egyptian workshop 🇪🇬🏛️.

    They had the chance to handle real artefacts 🏺, write their names in hieroglyphs ✍️🔣 and even saw a real mummy! 😲💀

    The children were brilliantly behaved and loved learning all about Ancient Egypt. A fun, hands-on experience they won’t forget! 🌟📚

  • The King's Visit

    What a morning our headboy, headgirl and some of the mini police cadets had this morning meeting the King 👑. His majesty shook each child’s hand and spoke to all of them, thanking Megan for the flowers 💐 we had brought for him. We must say a massive thank you to Molly & Huw from Ribble Valley Police for this experience. Also thanks to Slaidburn Silver Band for their outstanding playing throughout the morning. 🎺🥁 a memory to last a lifetime.
