Rowan Class 2022/2023

Our marvellous class assembly, earlier this year, when you were all in Sycamore class!

YAY! It's the start of our new school year!

 Welcome to Rowan Class!

We can't wait to get started as we have lots of exciting activities and learning

to look forward to in the first half term of this school year.

This term's topics are as follows:

Science: Electricity

Geography: Rivers

Our class texts are:

The Magic Faraway Tree: A New Adventure

by Jacqueline Wilson

(We started this last year but never got very far and so, seeing as everyone loved the story so much,

we are going to finish it this term!)

Mr Gum by Andy Stanton

Who's Who?

Teachers: Mrs Baptie (Monday and Tuesday)

Mrs Rosinski (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)

Teaching Assistant: Miss Goodwin

At Barrow, we feel passionately that the most significant thing that you, as parents, can do to support your child’s learning is to share books with them on a regular basis. By this we mean reading to your child, listening to your child read and talking about what you are reading. As adults, we are all reading role models – there is lots of evidence that children seeing their parents read is a powerful factor in encouraging them to read more frequently.

Becoming a confident reader able to understand a range of texts is hugely important – it allows a child to grow in confidence and to access all areas of the curriculum.

Your child should spend short periods of time (10-15 minutes) reading at least 4 times a week, talking about their reading or listening to an adult read. Each child has a reading record and we ask that you record any reading activities in the home - either online Bug Club or actual books.

Pick n Mix Homework Menu

At the start of each half term, your child's class teacher will share a 'Pick n Mix Homework Menu' via SeeSaw. This will be based on the topic and units that your child is covering that half term. Please send your work in with your child or through Seesaw.
