Physical Education
Our Intent
The intent of our P.E. curriculum at Barrow is to give pupils the opportunity, knowledge and understanding to establish a life-long active and healthy lifestyle. Throughout their PE journey, our children develop fundamental movement skills as well as dance and gymnastics skills and are given opportunities to apply these to a variety of different sport settings. It is our vision for all pupils to succeed through challenge and competition, gain a mature level of physical literacy and develop their character through the key values of sport.
Forest School
At Barrow, we invest our time in weekly forest school sessions, with each class enabling all children and staff to have access to the Forest Schools’ Curriculum.
This has many benefits:
Independence in learning
Personal awareness of health & safety
Being outdoors- in all weathers
Appreciation of the environment
Confidence building
Team skills
Learning to manipulate materials and tools safely
These are just a few of the advantages the Forest Schools’ Ethos brings.
We have always used the outdoor environment – this brings an extra dimension!
